VAMC in Decatur in need of a self-starter Registered Nurse with 3 years? experience as an ER RN. The shift is xxxxam to 12midnight with every other weekend. It is a full time positions with a salary $40/hr, there is no on call.
Summary Description:
Provide services including a variety of nursing care procedures and treatments for urgent or emergency services to patients. Specialized experience in providing complete assessments of patients with a variety of trauma and emergency conditions; triages as to the nature of problems and begins care; administers medications, operates special equipment and responds appropriately in emergency situations. Assess patients presenting for emergency care and triages based on history, physical assessment and chief complaint. Initiates resuscitative and life or limb saving diagnostics, medications, and treatments. Administers therapeutic measures. Operates and monitors specialized equipment. Initiates, participates and presents cases in multi-disciplinary conferences. Ability to provide direct care to patients. Plans and implements nursing care plan. Ability to assess patient emergent care needs through analysis of health data. Administer therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician.
Summary Duties for the Emergency Room Nurse:
a. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care for a specific
patient or group of patients with attention to their physical and
psychosocial needs. Assesses and reports changes in the patient?s
condition.
b. Provides emergency care as indicated
c. Ensure continuity of care by:
(1) collaboration with coworkers
(2) reviewing pertinent patient information
(3) conducting nursing rounds and conferences
(4) updating nursing care plans
d. Documents nursing care according to service standards
e. Performs treatments and procedures consistent with approved
standards and the needs of the individual patients in an organized and
timely manner
f. Fosters a holistic approach to patient care through collaboration with
other members of the health care team
g. Demonstrates respect for the patient and family while administering
nursing care and maintaining confidentiality of patient information
h. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment
i. Participates in education of ancillary staff by sharing knowledge
during the course of leading a nursing care team
Summary Qualification:
Minimum Qualification: 3 Years? Experience as ER nurse working in this setting within the past 6 months. This position requires specifically the Hospital type ER setting due to the nature of the requirements and the similarities in scope and practice. You must have 36 months experience and have worked within the past six months as an ER RN.
Management: There is a solid chain of command structure in place at this facility. All RN's must be able to comport to this facility chain of command system. The chain of command begins at the Unit where the service is performed. There is a feedback mechanism in place at this facility where the patient has direct and immediate capability to express grievances or commendation.
