As an instructor, I've taught guitar and bass for 20 years. I studied theory on guitar with late GIT instructor, Vic Trigger. I also studied jazz bass at Kennesaw State University. Also, I've taught privately at Dekalb Musicians Supply and Atlanta Music School. From xxxx-xxxx, I worked as a band coach and private instructor at Planet Rock School of Music Performance. And from xxxx- to present, I work for Camp Jam as a band coach, private instructor, and summer camp band instructor.
Gigging around the Southeast and Mid-west on both guitar and bass since xxxx, I have performed in a multitude of genres such as: afro-beat, rock, blues, neo-soul, reggae, folk, zydeco, funk, and jazz. . In xxxx and in xxxx, I acted as a live musical director of the Singer/songwriters Soul Kitchen which includes artists Vinx, Gaelle, and Julie Dexter. Over the years I have shared the stage with artists such as: Dionne Farris (Grammy nominee, Arrested Development), Van Hunt (Grammy winner), Derek Trucks (Allman Brothers), John Popper (Blues Traveler), Heather Luttrell (INXS Rockstar, solo artist), and the Barenaked Ladies, to name a few. I also acted as musical co-director and guitarist for jazz ensemble Groov Project, who has performed at Atlanta Jazz Festival (xxxx), in addition to receiving air play on WCLK. In the Atlanta area, I've played in the cover/jam band Like A Locomotive, and I've performed freelance throughout the United States. In addition, I've worked as a composer and arranger. In xxxx, the CD My Beautiful Ugly by artist Twin Spirit that I co-arranged and performed on spent 3 weeks at #3 on the Soul Brothers UK Soul Charts. My solo project, the Sean L. McMorris Group is represented by SRG Management out of Chicago. Also, I've played guitar in an Afro-beat group led by the nephew of Fela Kuti, perform gospel as well, and travel the East Coast in a corporate cover band.
