Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Environmental Health and Safety Engineer will be responsible for the development and implementation of safety, health, and environmental programs / practices aimed to prevent and control occupational injury and illness with the 3M Automotive Aftermarket Division (AAD) manufacturing facility in Atlanta, GA
Typical duties consist of interpreting regulatory requirements, developing and conducting EHS training, investigating workplace incidents and determining corrective actions, conducting workplace exposure assessments and determining mitigation/control measures as it relates to Industrial Hygiene issues, performing ergonomic evaluations and determining safeguards, tracking and monitoring EHS program effectiveness and conducting workplace and process hazard reviews.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
: Develop a broad knowledge and understanding of external safety / environmental activities and technologies and how they relate to the businesses of the division / staff organization
: Establish and cultivate an extensive network of intra:divisional support (facility, lab, manufacturing, and engineering) to facilitate completion of EHS assignments. Communicate EHS project or program status and results to local operational management.
: Analyze EHS data, self:assessments, reports, trends and communicates results to local operational management and recommends plans for correction of gaps
: Implement on:going industrial hygiene chemical / noise exposure and assessment and monitoring plans, utilizing the 3M Workchec tools and system
: Provide EHS oversight, design review, and testing of efficacy of exposure control measures including ventilations, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment
: Be responsible for implementing, coordinating, and maintaining the reports / records submittal rhythm to assure completion of Environmental reporting and recording for all applicable Federal, State and Local Environmental Permit reports and programs
: Participate in Site EHS Committee meetings and associated activities
: Develop and present EHS training topics
Basic Qualifications:
: Bachelor's degree or higher in a Science or Engineering discipline from an accredited university
: Minimum of one (1) year of Environmental, Health and/or Safety experience (an Internship or Co:op is considered qualifying)
Preferred Qualifications:
: Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related discipline from an accredited university
: Experience in a manufacturing environment highly desired
: Experience with State/Federal regulations
: Experience with 3M systems and processes (applies to internal applicants only)
: Professional certifications/pursuing certifications such as: Safety Professional (CSP) by the and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist
: Team player with the ability to influence others in a matrixed environment
: Strong analytical skills and ability to draw conclusions and determine strategies based upon date
: Exceptional communications skills (oral, written and presentation)
: Microsoft Office proficient
Location: Atlanta, GA
Travel: May include up to 5 domestic
Relocation: Is authorized
